The meltingpot table is a vessel designed to showcase mutable contents: reclaimed synthetics. Disparate sources maintain their individual properties through a house-developed extrusion process. Each molten pool is then intuitively mapped, puzzling together in a sprawling landscape. A robotic arm works in collaboration with the cartographer’s hand. The gravity of the meltingpot table deceives its origins: refrigerator interiors, lawn furniture, and other discarded synthetics find new consequence as ubermaterial. Measuring a solid 30mm thick, the process reintroduces plastic as indestructible and autonomous. Once milled and polished, the final table consists of a circular plateau resting atop a conical base. Available in a range of four diameters, the versatile design is suitable as a bistro setting or family dining table.
